Former Liverpool player Steven Gerrard revealed that the best manager he played under in his career is Spaniard Rafa Benitez.
The Reds veteran played over 700 games during his time at Anfield, spanning over 17 years. Dubbed “Captain Fantastic,” Gerrard played under five managers before he left the club.
“Rafa Benitez, tactically the best. Just in general, setting a team up to play, to deliver the Champions League with the team that we won it with was a miracle and Rafa was a big part of that. He was incredible,” the current Major League Soccer player claimed.
Gerrard has played under Brendan Rodgers, Kenny Dalglish, Roy Hodgson, and Gerard Houllier aside Benitez, but opines that the former Real Madrid coach is outstanding. Gerrard added that he enjoyed his times with Dalgish as he grew on him. He said Dalgish was a hero to himself and his dad. He claimed that Brendan Rodgers would have been a better choice for England, but the timing was wrong having accepted a job with the Scottish champions. Gerrard praised former England coach Fabio Capello as well. Read more “GERRARD NAMES BENITEZ BEST LIVERPOOL MANAGER”
