YAWN Accept it, he captained and failed to inspire the worst England World Cup performance in living memory. My abding memory of his foorballing days will always be his woeful lack of leadership and the fact that he let the nation down when he was called upon to dispel the myth that is Stevie Me.

Listen, the entire England team were woeful at the World Cup…..but who was the inspirational captain ? Quite how you can find a “best player” from that shambolic bunch is beyond me. And also, JesusLovesYou was making naive and unsubstabtiated claims which I have a right to find fault with…there’s “a reason for it”.

He was much better than your Fat Frank.
