ALDRIDGE BELIEVES GERRARD HELPED HENDERSON MATURE

John Aldridge believes that Steven Gerrard had a huge role to play in helping Jordan Henderson mature into the role of Liverpool captain.

Henderson took over the role of vice captaincy back in 2014 and was eventually given the captain armband after Steven Gerrard left the club in the summer of 2015.

The England international skippered Liverpool to a dramatic 1-0 victory over bitter Merseyside rivals, Everton on Monday night courtesy of a late Sadio Mane winner in added time.

The Liverpool skipper kept his cool despite a horror tackle from Ross Barkley on him in the second half. The Everton man managed to escape with only a yellow card. He was quick to play down the tackle in the aftermath of the match disclosing that Barkley offered him an apology immediately after the match.

Henderson has been integral to a Liverpool side that has been gunning for the Premier League title this season. He has been very composed and balanced at the center of the park, spraying passes throughout the whole pitch. Aldridge, former Liverpool player who won the league with Liverpool in 1988, believes that Gerrard played a key part in Henderson’s maturity. GIGGS: KLOPP FILLS GAP AT LIVERPOOL

Ryan Giggs is of the notion that Liverpool had constantly over relied on their former captain, Steven Gerrard, after he had served for so many years at the Anfield side.

Giggs has gone further to compare this to their situation at Manchester United when Roy Keane had to leave.’

However, the former Manchester United midfielder has also gone further to insist that their all-time legendary former boss man, Sir Alex Ferguson was always a bigger man than any of the players at Manchester United.

With the kind of charisma Jurgen Klopp holds over Liverpool at the moment, we probably might be seeing a similar kind of situation Ferguson had while with United.
Ryan Giggs wrote at length on Steven Gerrard in his column for Daily Telegraph. He said:

“Watching Liverpool, it is notable that since Steven Gerrard left there is no big star in the side. Philippe Coutinho is a talent and Jordan Henderson has done well to step into the captaincy. He looks like a good lad and a dedicated professional.” Read more “GIGGS: KLOPP FILLS GAP AT LIVERPOOL”

Chelsea is still interested in signing Pogba and Pedro made a dream debut

Juventus will not release Paul Pogba to any club for anything less than €70 million but this extremely high price tag has not intimidated Chelsea as the Premier League club is believed to be willing to pay that steep price for the young Frenchman.

The owner of Chelsea, Roman Abramovich is prepared to spend that much money in the prodigy who is already being labeled as: ‘’The next Zinedine Zidane’’

Chelsea will do whatever it takes to continue winning titles even if it means dishing out large sums of cash in a player and this is what they have to do as all of their rivals are also splashing out high amounts of money in signing new players.

The first victory of this season that Chelsea secured can be credited in a large part to the latest high-profile signing that Jose Mourinho completed as the Portuguese manager snatched Pedro Rodriguez for a price tag of €26.6m.

In this summer transfer window, Pedro was a player who was being sought out by Manchester United but Chelsea acted faster and splashed out the cash for the Spanish attacker which has already resulted in a huge impact for Chelsea as he almost single handedly secured all 3 points for the Premier League club during his debut match. Steven Gerrard has admitted that he is left bitterly disappointed

Former Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard has admitted that he is left bitterly disappointed with the attitude shown by Raheem Sterling just days into the pre-season.

Gerrard left the club after more than 15 years at Anfield and he now plays for LA Galaxy. However, he continues to be presented with questions about his former club. A well-known fan of Liverpool, Gerrard has joined hands with his former teammate Jamie Carragher in criticising the attitude shown by Sterling in order to engineer a move to Manchester City. The Premier League team have made a £ 40 million offer for Sterling and this is the second bid.

A third bid in the region of £ 50 million is expected to arrive, as the transfer window approaches an end. This is still quite far away and clubs have just begun their preparations for the new season. Liverpool’s pre-season started a few days ago, but Sterling has not been part of it. He has called in sick on both days and this is seen as a huge statement of intent from the 20-year-old that he no longer wants to play for the Reds. Gerrard says that Sterling should learn a thing or two about being professional from current captain Jordan Henderson. Read more “Steven Gerrard has admitted that he is left bitterly disappointed”
